Encouraging Hearts and Home-- Back to School or Not Back to School

I am always amazed when I read blogs from around the country to see how very different all the school schedules are.  So many people are in the back to school flurry (and many have already started!).  In our town the schools don't start back until just a few days before Labor day so I know many families are starting to get ready for back to school too.  I'm lucky in that as a homeschooling mom I get go choose when we start school.. and this year I'm pretty torn.  Each day I seem to hold an internal debate about whether to start back to school soon or wait...

Today's features are all about getting ready for back to school.

  1. Yes! I've always loved the freedom to start when I'm ready -- and sometimes when the season dictated!
This will be my last "back to school" as a homeschooling mum. Bittersweet!

    1. Sometimes we start when the season dictates too but I love knowing that I don't have to (we won't this year as my sister is coming up for a week long visit!).

  2. This is our first back to school homeschooling, as we started to homeschool in October of last year. I decided to wait until after Labor Day because my oldest goes back to college next week and thought it would be nice to have downtime.

BUT all of Ellie's friends are in public school, so she will get bored during the week once they go back. So I am torn as well.

    1. I do find we often start just to stave off that boredom factor as well. This year my sister is coming for a visit so wont have to worry about that.
