French Bread Pizza Recipe

When I saw that loaves of French bread were on sale at our grocery store this week I thought we should make French bread pizzas.

It has been so long since we've made them and they are so very easy to put together.  I love that the toppings can be individualized so everyone loves them.

To make the pizzas you will need:

  • Loaf of French bread
  • Pizza sauce
  • 4 cups mozzarella or pizza cheese
  • assorted toppings: we used pepperoni, meatballs, mushrooms and broccoli florets

Step 1:  Cut the French bread into thirds lengthwise and then in half; making sure to cut all the way through them.

Step 2: Spread some pizza sauce on each bread half.

Step 3: Add 1/4 cup cheese on each pizza half.  I don't worry about the cheese overlapping at all.

Step 4: Add your toppings!  We sauteed our mushrooms and broccoli first since I don't like the way raw vegetables taste on top of the pizza.

Step 5: Bake in a 375 degree oven for 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and golden brown.

The pizza is quite hot but delicious!

We love the added crunch of the French bread.
