My 10 Favorite Things About Our Week

Most weeks we're just going day by day plugging away and while I enjoy our life and our homeschooling journey I rarely take the time to sit and reflect on each week.

This week I decided to challenge myself and list 10 things that made me happy about our week:



  1. That Evan asked to have a sleepover with Alec EVERY SINGLE night.  They didn't get to have one until Friday but I love that they WANTED to have sleepovers and spend time together.
  2. Visiting my grandmother.  She's elderly, home- bound, forgetful, and utterly sweet.  I know my time with her is pretty limited and I was so happy to finally get there and see her.
  3. Going out to breakfast with my husband and two younger sons.  It's fun to relax and enjoy a meal together that I do not have to cook.
  4. We got snow!  Our first "real" snowstorm of the winter found us with just about 6 inches of snow.  I do not enjoy the cold or the snow but there is something so magical about watching the snow pile up and coat everything (trees included) in a beautiful white blanket.  So yeah, that first snow does make me happy. 
  5. When Evan interrupted my reading of a story book to read the words over and ahead of me!  He has grown so much as a reader and his willingness to try and take over the reading showed me how confident he's becoming.
  6. When Ian told me he read three chapters in his book yesterday because they were getting so good he just could not put them down... big steps for a guy who claims to hate reading.
  7. Listening to Alec and Evan singing Stressed Out after watching a wonderful video my nephew put together.  The boys had such a great time helping and starring in said video and it makes me smile to think of how well these boys get along.
  8. Watching Evan discover the wonder of learning how to draw and deciding to work on two extra pages in his Draw Write Now book just because he was having fun!
  9. Watching Alec figure out how to put his new Block Fun sets together; it was difficult and looking at him I could just see the wheels turning in his head trying to figure out the best way to go about building.  He was so determined!
  10. I cooked balsamic chicken for dinner one night and, not only did no one complain, the boys all LIKED  it.  It's so rare to find a meal that everyone enjoys and I was so happy that they all willingly tried it and told me it was good.

    I think this is a great idea, too! It's such a great way to appreciate small moments with the kids, too.

Favorite TV Shows Growing Up in the 80's and early 90's

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. And through the years I had SO MANY favorites! Things That Make Me Laugh

I loved the challenge of this week's list for our 26 lists link up.  I don't know about you but I really need to laugh more lately.  It's such a great stress reliever. 1.  Books-- I love a good funny book that makes me laugh out loud.  I haven't read one in a while but if you have any recommendations I'm all ears.  The last book I can remember making me laugh was the Un-Honeymooners. 2  The boys being silly. 3.  Watching shows like America's Funniest Videos or Family Feud. 4. My husband.  Most people don't realize it but he's actually pretty funny and often makes me laugh. 5.  Whenever my sisters/ family get together and we get to reminiscing (particularly if my Aunt Elaine is around) we end up laughing so hard at all the old family stories that we are all in tears by the end of the night.  It's fabulous. 6. Would You Rather; Fall Edition

I was looking for a quick and fun blog post when I stumbled upon this graphic on Pinterest.  I stopped by Life By Wyetha's blog and found so many great Would You Rather and printable game ideas for parties.  It's a really fun blog and you should definitely check it out (here!) .  With her permission, I'm using her adorable graphic for today's post.  As always, I've circled my answers and, of course, will go into even more detail below.   Other than a few football games when I was in high school, I've never even watched football so my obvious answer was movies!  I don't like scary movies though so you'll find me watching things like Runaway Bride, Stepmom, Love Story, Autumn in New York, St. Elmo's Fire, Good Will Hunting, etc.  While I love iced tea, I only drink hot tea when I'm sick.  I much prefer a mug of cocoa!  When my boys were younger we used to visit a corn maze (and a different one at that!) each fall.  We have so many near us.  They
