What We're Eating This Week: With the crisp cool fall temps finally here we're eating lots of soups, stews, and casseroles! Like these two favorite fall meals.

What I'm Reminiscing About: My trip to see my sister and all my family in North Carolina. My mom and I had the best time flying down to surprise my sister with a short visit for her birthday! (You can read about our time at the art museum here and the beaches here)




What I'm Loving: I found these Maple Pecan Pretzels in North Carolina and I just LOVED them.  Oh so good!  Thankfully I only bought one bag.



What We've Been Up To: Lots and lots of fall hikes!  While we haven't had the most colorful fall it is still so pretty and the temps are nice and cool for hiking.



What I'm Dreading: The cold... our temps have been all over the place this month (from 80- 39!) and I just know that sooner or later those cold temps are going to be here to stay for the rest of the fall and winter.

What I'm Working On: Lots of Christmas/ winter crafts/gifts and am already starting my shopping and wrapping! In addition to my fall/winter reversible sign I am hard at work making some ornaments for a fun blogger ornament exchange (plus I made some glass etched ones too) and I've already started work on my Christmas cards.





What I'm Excited About: Trick or treating tonight with my boys... pretty sure this is the last year we'll enjoy this as the younger two boys were not all that enthused about picking out costumes. But they do love how soft and warm their ring tailed lemur and red panda costumes are!





What I'm Watching/ Reading:  I began watching Glee!  It's a show I've always wanted to watch that my husband was never interested in seeing; on Netflix I can watch each afternoon while he's still at work. I've made it partway through season 2 so far.

My husband and I also started watching Lethal Weapon on Hulu and are just loving this TV re-make of one our favorite movies series.

We also began watching a lot of the new fall shows like New Amsterdam, A Million Little Things, and Single Parents.  We're also watching new episodes of old favorites like This Is Us, American Housewife, Last Man Standing, The Goldburgs, 9-1-1, etc.  I just love this time of year!!  So many great shows to watch on Hulu.


 What I'm Listening To:  My boys and I listened to another book on Cd; Gregor and the Marks of Secret.  In the 4th book of the series Gregor and his friends are trying to uncover the mystery of what is happening to all the nibblers (mice) in the Underland.  It left off on a cliff hanger so we'll be listening to the fifth and final book next month.

What I'm Wearing: Cold weather has arrived and I am wearing sweaters, scarves, pants... and flip flops!  I try so hard to keep my flip flops out until the first snowstorm!



What I'm Doing this Weekend: Nothing!  Well, I'm sure I'll be doing something but we have no plans.

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month:  Thanksgiving!  It's actually my favorite holiday and I just love it.

What Else is New: Nothing much.  We have begun talking about where we might like to go for next year's family vacation... there are so many great choices that I always have a hard time narrowing it down to just one!  What's your favorite family vacation destination?

    You and your sissy and mama are so beautiful, you all look so alike!! I miss Glee, so so good. I need a new binge show just for me. You so have me wanting to make pot pie!! YUM!! Hope your day is full of treats!!

    Cute costumes! I tried watching Glee but I thought it was cheesy! Vacation destinations...how about Kansas City? :)

      They just love how comfy they are! I'd love to see Kansas city! I am such a travel bug that I always have a very hard time narrowing down our vacation plans.

Prime Purchases I Made in March

 Happy April Fool's day to you! It's the first Monday of the month and time for Prime Purchases with Tanya.  I was doing so well with my Amazon purchases right up until the end of the month when we decided to host Easter dinner at our house and I felt like I "needed" so much not having any Easter decorations at all.  I bought a few new cardigans for this "in between" season and really love this cable knit one so much it's all I can do to keep myself from buying a second one! I also like this gray one.. . but I find myself wishing I had bought it a different color since it's not very "spring" feeling.  Evan needed some new hiking shoes and we really wanted something waterproof this year but our local shoe stores didn't have anything that worked so we turned to Amazon and he found this pair that he really likes.  I've been working on lots of scrapbook pages and I needed to buy some more of these adhesive refills and Cricut cutting

Alec's Accepted Student Day at JWU

Last spring when Alec started his college planning I was pretty surprised that he only wanted to visit 2 colleges out of state (he visited a few in-state with his high school culinary class).  He ultimately decided to apply to just the 2 colleges we visited-- Johnson and Wales University (JWU) and the Culinary Institute of America (CIA). Both ranked as the #1 & #2 schools in the U.S for culinary and baking/pastry arts. Funny enough out of his 2 culinary teachers he's had in high school one attended each of those schools!  Photo of harborside campus from last spring JWU Future wildcat photo also from last spring Visiting the CIA over the summer We were lucky that both schools are easily visited in a day and we had a great time touring them both. Day in the Life: Friday Favorites

 I decided to document last Friday for today's Friday Favorites post. I hardly ever document a day in the life anymore now that my boys are grown and mostly on their own. But I knew we had a pretty full day and thought it might be fun.  These are some of my favorite posts to read and I think I did a pretty great job remembering to document and take pictures for the whole day! 5:00 wake up and I allow myself to blog, read emails, etc. until 5:30 5:30 get up, get dressed for the gym, put away my laundry from the night before, make the bed. 5:45 head downstairs to make Alec's lunch (1/2 way though he came to the balcony to tell me he wasn't going to school since he wasn't feeling well-- he's 18 and allowed to make this call himself).  I decided to make a salad, some chicken salad, hard boil some eggs, and cut up all the fruit since we had just done groceries after dinner last night and none of that had been done yet. I emptied, reloaded, and restarted the dishwasher.
